Destination – Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia

McCracken Drive, Victor Harbor, South Australia

You’ll find McCracken Country Club just on the outskirts of Victor Harbor, in South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula region.

Just literally a 2-3 minute drive from the centre of town, McCracken Country Club is surrounded by the golf course and McCracken Estate, located off the main Adelaide-Victor Harbor road, as you first approach Victor Harbor.

Our self-drive travellers will be perfectly positioned when staying at McCracken Country Club, because you are close to the attractions, but just out of the bustle of town and can enjoy the picturesque views and surrounds that may not otherwise be afforded to motels in the centre of the town.

For those travelling without their own car, there are two local taxi services in that operate in the region. A cab fare into the main street of Victor Harbor is approximately $10.

It’s also only approximately a 20-30 minute walk into the middle of Victor, but beware the return journey, as Kleinig’s Hill is quite steep!

There are several beaches ideal for swimming or surfing also within a 2-3 minute drive, or if you are looking for somewhere particularly family friendly, with grassy reserves, picnic areas and playgrounds alongside the sandy beaches, Port Elliot’s famous Horseshoe Bay is a 10 minute drive from McCracken Country Club.

Victor Harbor is approximately 85km from Adelaide, and about an hour to 90 minutes driving time from the city or an hour from Adelaide’s Southern suburbs.

In the Fleurieu Peninsula region you will also find well known tourist spots such as Goolwa (gateway to the Coorong & River Murray) – 15 minute drive from McCracken Country Club, McLaren Vale wine region – 45 min drive; Cape Jervis (the ferry to Kangaroo Island departs from here) – 40 min drive; Deep Creek Conservation Park (including Heysen Trail walk) – 30 min drive; and Langhorne Creek wine region – 35 min drive, just to name a few. The Fleurieu Way touring route, a series of self-drive itineraries designed to incorporate all of the famed landmarks of the region, is an ideal way for you to experience the region at its best.

Regional Activities

Offering rare whale sightings, fairy penguin walks and fine McLaren Vale wines, it’s really no wonder that this region is South Australia’s favourite holiday destination.
